Plastic Man

So as you may know Plas likes to assume other forms to capture his victims, but sometimes it’s steched a bit. In this issue Plas and Woozy head out to find some missing scientists. But first they are found by some giant ants. The ants are the work of the scientsts, who want to use them to take over the world. Because they had elevated intelligence the ants didn’t want to work for the scientsits so they were killed. Having Woozy distract them Plas re-shaped himself into a giant ant. The scientist believed that there were other ants and ran in fear, dropping their weapons. Plas streched out and caught the buggers.

A Woozy tale came next. These are short ‘humorous’ tales where he is without the man of rubber. Woozy becomes a lifeguard, in order to look at the dames on the beach and the other lifeguard, a swollen headed dick himself, had one of the girls pretend to be drowning and then she beat Woozy up and saved him. Everyone laughed at Woozy’s failure. Later two people were drowning and the other lifeguard went to save the pretty buxom one and Woozy went out to save the old lady. She handed him a money belt and said the water soaked bills had slowed her down. Then all the girls like Woozy cause he had money. Bah.

Next tale it was Woozy being a wolf that wrecked their plans again. The were trying to break open a ring of crooks helping people cross the border into the U.S. So they claimed to be Mexican (how? I mean I know that there are people with lighter skin tones that are Mexican, but they have American accents, are white, and Plastic Man didn’t even get rid of his well known costume!) and claimed the wanted to cross the border. Woozy was slobbering over some girl and told her they were FBI to impress her. Of course she was in the ring and told her partner. So instead of flying them t the U.S. they dropped them out of a plane in the middle of no where. Plas made himself a parachute and they were fine. Plas then assumed Woozy’s shape and ‘haunted’ the girl into confessing.

Woozy and Plastic Man are driving along and W decides he wants to pick some flowers, and he falls in a hole. Plas sees his friend disappear and slips into the same hole. They are met with tiny people who live under the earth and seek to take over the upper lands. They manage to escape by threatening the race with their special bomb that is supposed to be ten times more powerful than the atom bomb. Plas climbs them out of the hole and drops the bomb back inside. Dude, I understand you wanted to stop the invasion, but a bomb that powerful should not be used lightly.

Strange Adventures: Captain Comet

Untitled.png

A Volcano erupts in NY City, Massive earthquakes shock the world, and other such phenomena begin occurring world-wide. Adam remembers reading about such a thing a pulls out the book he had found it in. Some scientist had theorized that the Earth was a living thing, and that it would be irritated by the use of the atom bombs and strike back with the phenomena above. So Captain Comet heads out to see this man, to find that he has gone below a huge drained lake. Following him down he finds a gigantic brain, which has more mental strength than our man of the future. Hiding his thoughts behind a cloud of others he remembered the build of a human brain and shot the ‘breathing center’ with his ray gun. At the end of the tale they are putting the scientist’s work next to Einstein’s.

Superboy

Untitled.png

In this tale they are showcasing famous people in Smallville, a scientist, and actor and the like. Note here that Superboy tries to look through the actor’s turban and can’t. Later a kid claims to have grown a giant beanstalk, so SB goes to check it out. He finds that miraculously there is a giant on top of the mountain. The giant demands food and goods from Superboy, sighting that he would destroy Smallville if Clark didn’t obey. Then the giant heads off to find something important to him. Clark sees red hairs, silken threads, and lead upon the ground and figures out that the giant is really the actor, who accidentally drank the scientist’s potion. He wore lead in his turban to conceal that he was really bald from SB, as he thought it would end his career. Superboy spread the story that the giant was an alien who needed the serum to produce more food for his planet, hence protecting the young actor.

In this second tale Lana was showing Clark some of the artifacts her parents had brought back from their adventures. She showed him a wand that supposedly made whatever you wish occur when you said the magic word, just as some bank robbers broke in. Trying to hide his identity Clark begged her to try the wand, and was able to stop the robbers with just his breath and Lana’s imagination. However his troubles are just beginning, as Lana has decided the wand is real, and Clark can’t let her find out it isn’t without risking his identity. Also Lana has decided to go into show biz. In the end he is able to get himself out of this conundrum by having Lana turn him invisible. And then not coming back. Really the boy was flying over her using ventriloquism to sound like he was right next to her. In order to get Clark back she broke the wand, giving up her show.

Clark, well Superboy, is in a meeting with some scientists when he hears a cable snap so he hurries to the source of the noise underground where he figures he won’t be delayed. He grasps the broken cable and stops the cable car. However there was a boy standing in front of the car and people assumed he had stopped it from crashing. Across the world people began testing themselves for superpowers, many in dangerous ways. In order to curb any accidents Clark sets up testing centers, and Clark has one boy appear to have miraculous abilities and fed him a story to tell the press. So the kid told about how he gained amnesia after his father tested a ray machine on him. This was to lure the scientist out of hiding, for they had found a use for his ray. Still it was very cruel to make the man think his son was actually alive, only to have it torn away. And just because his ray has a use doesn’t mean that he didn’t kill his kid. He still has to deal with that.

Whiz Comics

All the world’s food is vanishing, from crops still in the field to canned goods. Billy gets a bulletin that Sivana was spotted, and figures that even though he can’t figure out what is going on with the food, Sivana is always a threat. So he heads out and finds Sivana with piles of the stolen goods. He tries to grab him, but is hindered by the inhabitants of the land he was in as they had never heard of either the villain or the hero. So Billy hides himself in with the food that had not yet been stolen and finds out that Sivana was keeping it all in space! But unprepared for the harsh cold Billy is found and was unable to produce his word. He is hung on a wall with sides of beef and a gag. Billy waits until his gag is frozen and snaps open his jaw, breaking the cloth. Captain Marvel then returned all the food and delivered Sivana back to jail.

Some background on Taia and Ibis this issue. Apparently Ibis was not born a prince but was given the title, and therefor the right to marry Taia due to his skills as the court magician. However Taia had another suitor, whom she had spurned. He also had magic skills, and he sent her a mirror made of bronze. When she gazed into it the former suitor was released from it’s depths and killed her guard, and was about to take Taia away when Ibis heard the commotion and came to save his wife-to-be. Retreating to the mirror, the villain made his escape. Frightened by her experience Taia asked for Ibis to bury the mirror, unknowingly trapping the man inside. Later there was an excavation and the mirror was found and the man freed. He spots Taia and Ibis and drags the woman into his mirror dimension. Ibis follows and enraged the other man attacks him, but misses, breaking a pillar of glass and being speared through the heart. Ibis magics them out and the mirror is melted down.

Wonder Woman

Important items have been disappearing from military intelligence, I’m not just talking about papers, but an entire submarine! Following the trail Wonder Woman finds that the sub had been transferred to a train. But the tracks belong to a train that runs the other way and they explain to the Amazon that they had seen a train coming toward them, felt it moving, heard it’s whistle, but when they had closed their eyes awaiting death, only to open them and find no train besides their own. While investigating at a station she heard a train coming in, but the next train wasn’t due for twenty minutes. Some guy warned them not to look at the ghost train or they’d die. WW ignores him and looks in the train only to pass out. Steve runs to her side and passes out as well, powerful gas over coming him. When they wake they are captured on the ghost train, and they tell her of their terrible plot to attack the U.S. from the inside. As they go along a hidden spur, using fog as camouflage. The beauty jumps from the train and hails her plane, then weaves a net out of her lasso, and covers it in sticky sap. As the planes fly from the secret HQ Wonder Woman snags them all.

Space: the final frontier. These are not the voyages of the U.S.S. Enterprise, because that it an entirely different series. However both worlds admit the strangeness of space, the vast mysteries left to discover. In this tale fantastic occurrences are happening across the world. The Ocean vanishes and a mountain moves.

While playing a game of chess to relax their minds so they can focus more sharply on the problem Steve mentions he feels as helpless as his chessmen against the amazon. Startled she takes Steve into space with her plane, and sees that yes, Earth is being used in a gigantic game of chess. They follow the path of the light beams which had been moving the heavenly pieces and find two aliens who care nothing for human life. They tell their tale, of how their race became obsessed with chess, using it to settle all disputes. Eventually the winner even had the right to kill their opponent. These two are the only remainder of their people and they refuse to give up their game. Wonder Woman manages to pull Steve and herself to the safety of her plane, but the players tried to destroy them with their light beams.

Hurriedly WW shaves the side of a comet into a mirror with her lasso, and the destructive beams return to their senders. Earth is safe.

Yes that’s right a drop of water was the menace in this story. First they found that a scientist had drowned in a room devoid of water. Wonder Woman looked at a drop of water under the microscope as his journal had said he was going to. Diana was surprised as the water began to expand, filling the whole room. She drilled a hole in the door and was surprised that the water didn’t come through the hole as well. She went back into the room to find it dry. A single drop on the microscope was the only evidence that it had happened. She looked through again and saw that the water droplet was actually full of alien soldiers. Somehow she could also hear them, or perhaps read their lips and discovered that they were planning to invade earth via rainfall. Wonder Woman ended up taking a windmill and swishing through the clouds to gather up the rain, which she then let fall on the North Pole. The frozen water wouldn’t let the invaders escape. We should be on the look out for water controlling aliens now that the ice caps are melting.

Kid Colt Outlaw

Untitled.png

Fun. So there were these dudes and they hated Kid because he broke up their rustling ring before. So the cowardly shits go to a place where Kid generally stocks up on rations and knock out the proprietor. Then they give him blanks and challenge him to a draw, when he’s surprised by the lack of bullets coming form him they jumped him and beat him. A month later he’s recovered and finds them rustling more cattle. He shot them down cold, face to face.

Ghosts are raiding towns, burning them to the ground and taking valuables as they see fit. We see this guy, a colonel get the bad news and he is plumb frustrated at the lack of clues. Then his men tell him that the had captured Kid Colt. He heads in there and is all- “i want to see Colt alone” and then he relaxes.

Untitled.png
Look how laid back he is

It seems Kid had been after some outlaws that had some of the cattle stolen from one of the raided towns. The colonel asks if there’s anyway that Kid could help them round up the ghosts and Kid’s like sure, that’s what I’m in town for. Then he ‘escapes’. He heads to this guy’s place who apparently ‘knows all and sees all, but only talks to me’ The guy scoffs at the idea of ghosts and is like- nah, they’re in that cave, and they dress as Santa Anna and his crew. Kid thanks him and shoots the crew as they leave. Unfortunately he is only one person and they ride out of his range.  He races ahead of the group and finds the colonel and his men at one end of the pass. So he has Steel- his horse- turn around and trap the men in the gorge.

Untitled.png

Swift Arrow, a friend of Kid’s came to him and told the gunman about trouble that was rising around his home. A group of Whitemen were buying up all the bison they could and Swift Arrow had heard about how they planned to stampede them into a town. So Kid hurried over to stop the tragedy. In the end he had to run down the herd and hit the leader off course. I’ll admit to a little pulse pounding.
