Chasing him off their new place they make an airship, can it be called that if it’s just being pulled through the sky by Captain Marvel? Anyway, and they go around the world to pick up representatives of each country. Apparently Kull has a plane too and he trys to shoot them out of the sky, but Mary catches the bullets and Jr goes after the guy, but gets distracted by a guided missile.
Back at the HQ Billy is making a rousing speech when Kull decides to use his fight ray again. Billy and Mary head after him, but Freddy had been hit an was unable to say the name. But this was for the best as Kull was just trying to get the Marvels away so his bomb could go off. After waking Freddy found the bomb, and saved the Junior UN. All is Well.
So Plas is sent to investigate this strange disease that all of this army camp had been getting, but for some reason the scientists were unable to form a cure. So Eel decides that he’s gonna have woozy walk in to the enemy camp and be captured to be experimented upon. Of curse he wouldn’t really let that happen to Woozy, and as they were about to give his the germs Plas struck out. But there were too many. So instead Plas volunteered to drink the vial of germs. A few minute after he began to change his form in strange and monstrous ways, scaring the enemy away. Then Plas pulled out the vial which he had only pretended to drink and they went back home.
Second tale was different. A convict is going to the chair and he swears revenge against our hero. Big whoop. The convict’s gang hears f this and pretend to be his ghost, but Plas is unafraid and fights back. Then actual corpses start clawing out of the ground. Hm. They attack the gang as they had ratted out their boss. To save their lives he makes himself look like Satan and orders the zombies back to the grave. Then he wraps up the crooks and takes them to jail.
First rule of magic: don’t get into something unless you fully understand what the fuck you are doing. There is a reason that magic schools are a thing in fiction, and that is because it is dangerous in untrained hands. There was this actor who thought he was awesome and because he didn’t get the role he wanted he began to cast voodoo on the wigs used by the cast. Two members died before Plas took the third’s place. Finally having the part he wanted he had the wig altered to fit himself, and when he put it n the wig killed him as well because he never removed the curse and the wig maker tossed the removed bits of the wig in the fire. Don’t play with shit you don’t understand guys.
Strange Adventures: Captain Comet
While Adam is off in space his scientist friend has made a sort of time hook, and he’s trying to grab something, but it wasn’t really working until he pulled out a girl in a strange costume. She seemed to have the same abilities as Captain Comet. Coinciding with her arrival there was a meteor that was filled with something called fire-bores which could set anything on fire. First Miss Universe saved the area where the meteor hit and then a section of the ocean, and they teamed up to stop a massive forest fire, but she was gravely injured. They put her back in the time hook, hoping that the people in the future could help her as their science was not advanced enough to help. Before she left they discovered that she breathed carbon dioxide and deduced that she wasn’t human but a being evolved from plants.
Lana mentions to Clark that she’s worried about her father as he had yet to return from his latest trip to Africa, so Clark zips over for a look. He finds a space ship. It is broadcasting that if anyone kills the animals they had released Earth would be bombed. Mr. Lang’s group was trying to capture the animals so they couldn’t harm people, but these are not the beasts that they were familiar with. So Superboy turns the beasts’ own abilities on them as he investigates. From the contents of the ship (which he viewed with x-ray vision) he figured out that the animals were sent there as guinea pigs to see if the master race could survive on Earth. Noticing that all the animals has extra large lungs meaning their planet probably has a thin atmosphere, so he takes a bunch of oxygen tanks and over airs them. If Humans get too much oxygen then we become dizzy, and giddy. Seeing the odd behavior of their animals they decide that Earth is not for them and order the creatures back into the ship and it flies off.
Lana is bringing trinkets from her father’s adventures to school for the play and the blowdart accidentally pricks her finger and falls asleep. There is a label on the gun saying that anyone hit by the weapon will sleep for three days and then die. And of course the antidote is unknown to all but the tribe that makes the poison. In order not to worry Lana’s father Superboy hid the situation from him by changing the play into Snow White, with Lana as Snow. He painted the scenery, asked some midgets to help, yada yada. Then he flew to the tribe, got the seeds that grow the plant to make the cure, super grew them, had the meds made then flew home had Lana put on the play but using her as a puppet and then gave her the med before he kissed her as Prince Charming. He really could have saved himself a lot of time and effort.
Clark was tired of Lana always suspecting him of being Superboy and so acted even more timid than ever, but that got him picked as the most timid boy in Smallville and this guy decided to test the theory he had that by pressing a nerve would make someone brave. Because Lana was there and she knew Superboy would not want to do anything that might make him look like SB he pretended it worked and punched a robber. Then he became too busy to really spend time with Lana. She was sad that he’d rather go down the river than help her with homework and the like. Figuring that Clark wasn’t SB she set her sights on another kid and decided to prove he was Superboy. Which put both herself and the kid in danger. In the end Clark solved the other kid’s timidity, saved Lana, proved he wasn’t Superboy, and then told Lana the nerve treatment had worn off and was able to return to being the normal Clark Kent. Lana was very relived to have her Clark back.
In “The Frontier Tinker” we meet an interesting man named Toby who had makeshift flash bombs and other oddities that he used to save Tom and Dan’s lives when he stumbled upon them being attacked by some outlaws. Afterwards they went their separate ways. However the outlaws found Toby and were going to kill him for helping Tom, so he offered them his services. He ran noise traps around their camp, made a suit of armor for the leader, and armed the men with exploding arrows. But truly he was still on the side of his fellow frontiers men, for there was a warning written on one of the noise traps, telling them to set them off. The arrows were rigged to explode in the hands of the outlaws and the suit of armor locked in to place, effectively trapping the leader.
Pirates on the- well not the high seas, pretty sure this was a river, but oh well. Men were raiding all supply boats in this one section of the river, but when looked for the pirates had disappeared. Tomahawk was worried about the pirates stealing a treasure map he had on his person, and let it slip to the mayor of a town along that river stretch. Well, Like Tomahawk suspected the boat they were on was raided, and they knew about the map from a would be thief that had over heard Tomahawk and Dan talking to the mayor. And so the two were kidnapped in order to explain the map. Swiftly dropping a power horn in a fire they made their escape and headed back to the town they had been in before, telling the mayor what they had learned. Bringing them inside Tomahawk and Dan were ambushed as the Mayor was the real head of the pirate crew! They tried to kill the two in a way that would look like an accident, but they were able to avoid it. In the end the crew was all taken to prison. They hid by putting the deck boards from the deck over an unfinished dock and hiding the rest of the boat under the dock.
Finally we were shown a man and his band of crooks destroy a wooden bridge that an explorer and his crew were crossing and take over their identities. Because the explorer stopped sending messages back to base Tom and Dan were sent to find the missing crew. They tried to convince Tom that everything was fine and send him on his way, but he had been ordered to help guide them in the area. So, they tried to kill him in various tricky ways, in the end making a rock slide over his tent. But Dan and Tom weren’t in the tent, they had snuck out the back and gone to see the local tribe. He had figured out that these weren’t the explorers from the first as they had and old camp and weren’t moving. He stayed around to gather evidence. And boy did he, he came back with the real explorers, who were alive by some miracle, and wanted posters for the gang, and several braves. After that well, things went back to normal.
